What is Scientific and Technical Information (STI)
STI is defined by DOE Order 241.1C as information products that hold value beyond their originating site. These include findings and technological innovations from the research and development (R&D) efforts of scientists, researchers, and engineers. STI is communicated through various media textual, multimedia, and audiovisual products to facilitate knowledge sharing.
DOE-funded STI primarily originates from activities conducted by site and facility management contractors, DOE initiatives, financial assistance recipients, and DOE employees. Reporting of DOE-funded research must be submitted to the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) for public access per DOE Order 241.1C.
